Legal Aid is privileged to receive the volunteer services and financial contributions from members of the Orange County Bar Association and other attorneys practicing in Orange County. Attorneys help by handling individual cases, participating in projects and contributing financially to the program.

We have clients who need help in a variety of civil legal areas such as family, housing, consumer, employment, public benefits, immigrations and other areas. Each year, attorneys provide legal assistance to more than 2000 clients. If you are a member in good standing of The Florida Bar, you can help. Take Cases.

Attorneys can serve as a Guardian ad Litem for children in juvenile court. More than 1300 children receive services through the GAL Program. If you are a member in good standing of The Florida Bar, you can help. Be a Guardian ad Litem.

We also offer 9 projects that serve special client groups or needs. Attorneys helped the homeless, teen parents, people diagnosed with HIV, alternative dispute resolution, Teen Court, and participated at a variety of community events. If you are a member in good standing of The Florida Bar, you can help. Participate in a Project.

We value the time attorneys donate as their most important contribution. If you are not able to contribute your time, you can make a donation of $350 or more. Contribute Financially. We are a 501(c) 3 organization and contributions are tax-deductible.

Legal Aid Supports Volunteer Work

We offer support services for our volunteers. We provide trainings for specific projects and offer a series of lunchtime seminars twice each month. We have manuals and forms. We provide malpractice insurance. We screen cases before referring them to volunteers. We pay for certain litigation costs and expenses.

We have staff available to answer questions and provide ongoing support in many cases. Meet the Referral Department Staff.

You can make a difference!

Did you go to law school to help people? You can make a difference in someone’s life. Read about one of our volunteers.

Not a member of The Florida Bar?

If you are a retired member of another state bar and interested in volunteering, you may be able to help.

If you are a law student or law school graduate, we have volunteer opportunities for you. If you are not an attorney but are interested in helping, we have volunteer opportunities for you.
